Thanks, Carole. Wish I’d written it. It came from an essay by Rachel Carson called “The Sense of Wonder” which she originally published in a women’s magazine. She wanted to expand it into a book, but then she got all wrapped up in “Silent Spring” and died before she could return to finish it. Seek out the whole essay….it’s really moving.
So true, and a wonderful reminder that one of the best gifts we can give our children is time in nature, so that they, too, can feel its importance in our lives.
